# Membership

Members exist as a secondary entity to the Person and Company entities. In order to access this area of CRM, navigate to either the Customer or Person entity. Here you will notice a tab called “Membership”. To create a Membership click on the link provided to begin.

This will take you to the next screen where you are prompted to enter the membership details.

<table data-header-hidden><thead><tr><th valign="top"></th><th valign="top"></th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><td valign="top">Field Name</td><td valign="top">Description</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">Person</td><td valign="top">The name of the person (primary entity) whose membership this is.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">Membership Type</td><td valign="top">This optional field displays what membership reference to associate with the person. The available types are taken from the Products table.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">Description</td><td valign="top">This optional field allows you to record any additional information for this Persons membership.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">Status</td><td valign="top">This optional field assigns a status to their membership. This can be used for future search filtering.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">No. Memberships</td><td valign="top">Details the maximum number of members that can be added to this particular membership</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">No. Nominees</td><td valign="top">Here this allows you to record the number of others associated with the membership and Person entity. For example in this example of a Company Christmas Party this field could hold 0 or 1 indicating whether or not the person’s partner is attending.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">Website User</td><td valign="top">External websites are usually associated with large events. This field records the address of site.</td></tr><tr><td valign="top">Website Password</td><td valign="top">An optional field that holds the password for the event website </td></tr></tbody></table>

&#x20;

For a Person to be available for an event, their Membership entity must be activated. Here is a sample of a completed person membership.

Once the membership has been created, the membership details may be edited from this screen, i.e., “Status”, “Number of Memberships” etc.&#x20;

&#x20;People and Companies that have been added to existing Memberships are automatically flagged as Members, thus preventing them from being added to other Memberships.&#x20;

&#x20;The Import Group button acts as it would without the Event Membership box checked. The Group being imported will return only Persons who have an ‘Active’ membership.

**Note**: Membership is used in conjuction with the Membership Only property of an Event. If this property is checked then only members may attend the event.
